    SAPIA (Piel Acida)

Since 2000 Sapia has been working with low-income women artisans using recycled and natural materials to develop beautiful products that have made dramatic changes in the artisans' livelihoods. Sapia works with 6-8 different workshops outside of its orange peel workshop; approximately 100 artisans now depend in Sapia for their Income.

Sapia works with many groups and different materials, using new materials like cornhusk, cotton thread, recycled tires and tagua nuts.

Sapia employs primarily women, providing stable income and job training to help them become skilled artisans. The goal is to combine different natural or recycled and environmentally sustainable materials with unique designs and high quality standards. Sapia has created many benefits for all their producers like health insurance, pension funds, food coupons for every child, Sapia supports employees who decide to go to university, as well as offers apprenticeships, fair wages, bonuses, commuting allowances and much more.
